Start-Up Weekend Here I Come!

Southern California it's been a blast! It's time to start heading back to Northern California but not before I make a pit stop. Beyond excited to be attending my first start-up weekend in Santa Barbara tonight.  I'll be spending the weekend engaging with fellow entrepreneurs learning, sharing and networking about all things technology. Tonight is my first ever "rapid fire pitch", where I get 60 seconds to convince everyone else there how great I am and why they should pick me for their team. Hope it's not like gym class in Middle School where I got picked last! I won't be able to pitch Rocket Juice because we are already up and running but I have a few other side hustles I'd like to see happen. Either way I've never stood up and talked about myself in front of that many people before. Cross your fingers I don't start my pitch with "um" "yeah" or absolute silence.

Startup Weekend is a three-day startup accelerator event that encourages a fun and engaging environment for startup enthusiasts of all backgrounds. It creates a forum for creators and idealists to gain insight while being a relevant, real-time experience for growing a business as well as expanding their resumes, portfolios, and networks. Participants are involved in prototype building while having continual valuable mentor feedback from experts in the field and keynote speakers. The weekend is concluded with a Shark Tank-style judging session where prizes are awarded to the best new startups!

Wondering if you should come? If you are interested in entrepreneurship the answer is most likely yes. Techstars Startup Weekend attendee backgrounds are roughly 50% technical (developers, coders, designers) and 50% business (marketing, finance, law). Whether you are a serial entrepreneur or new to the startup scene, if you motivated to build a product or startup and open to new ideas you’ll fit right in.

You can participate like me as a "hustler"  or just come see what it is all about. Tickets are still available
